SECURITY AND SOCIETY
A Four-Week Summer Program on Two Continents
This unique program (for upperclassmen and graduate students) will explore security issues from a transatlantic perspective and
provide an in-depth analysis of American and German security policy, formation, and implication. The program, conducted in English,
will take place in both Washington, D.C. (Georgetown University) and Berlin, Germany (Humboldt University). Humboldt University
will award 4 (four) college credits for the course. Estimated total cost of the Program is $4,200.
Program Highlights:
1) GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY (June 17- June 30, 2007)- Washington, D.C., USA
Curricular fieldtrips to include: Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, Department of State and various
think tanks including, Brookings Institute, Heritage Foundation, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and RAND.
2) HUMBOLDT UNIVERSITY (July 1- July 14, 2007)- Berlin, GERMANY
Curricular fieldtrips to include: the Reichstag (the German Parliamentary System), STASI Museum (East Germany’s State
Security Service), and discussions with representatives from the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, Federal Criminal
Police Office, and Parliamentary Commission on National Security, among others.
