iPAR – Training Specialists (Access NYC)

Justification
ACCESS NYC, available at www.nyc.gov/accessnyc, is an online resource that promotes self-sufficiency among New York City’s residents by providing a single point of entry to City, State, and Federal human service benefit programs. ACCESS NYC allows residents to pre-screen, anonymously, for more than 20 programs across eight agencies in seven different languages, including Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Arabic, Haitian-Creole, and English. By entering household information, residents can receive a list of the programs for which they are potentially eligible, print partially-complete application forms, search for office locations, and create an account to access their information at a later time.  This initiative is led jointly by the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services and the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT). The four training specialists will be responsible for planning and coordinating training and outreach activities for specific low-income communities in New York City.  The training specialist is responsible for ensuring that the training and technical assistance needs of community based organizations in their assigned community are met. These positions will ensure that ACCESS NYC is utilized where most needed and establish continuity for the future. The positions are funded through the $150 million annual commitment to implement the recommendations of the Commission for Economic Opportunity, which the Mayor appointed to develop new strategies to tackle poverty.
