he Department of Government at the University of Essex is currently inviting applications for an academic fellowship in civil conflict and peace studies. This is a five year research fellowship, and the University will guarantee a permanent academic position at the end of the fellowship period, subject to the appointee meeting the normal criteria for a permanent academic post.

Applicants should have a research interest in studies of civil conflict and violence. We are particularly interested in candidates with an interest in disaggregated analyses of conflict and violence and the transnational dimensions of civil war.

Salary will be on the scale £26,666-£31,840 per annum depending on skills and experience. Although this post is fully funded, the nature of the funding for the post means that those currently holding a permanent position are not eligible to apply. The closing date for applications is 20 March 2007.

For the full description of the position and how to apply, see http://www.essex.ac.uk/personnel/Jobs/details/RE280W.htm.
